Basketball Recap: Eagle Ridge Christian Eagles vs. Westwood Baptist Academy Eagles
The Eagle Ridge Christian Eagles struggled with assists on Monday (the Westwood Baptist Academy Eagles had 16 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Eagle Ridge Christian was outmatched by the Eagles on the road and fell 75-17. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Eagle Ridge Christian has scored all season.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Noah Simpson, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Simpson hasn't dropped below ten rebounds for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Margrabe, who scored three points along with 11 rebounds and two blocks.
It was another big night for James Hawley, who scored 34 points along with six steals for Westwood Baptist Academy. Hawley is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ben Jones, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds.
Eagle Ridge Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Westwood Baptist Academy, their win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-2.
Eagle Ridge Christian will head out on the road to challenge the Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Providence Classical Christian Academy is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games. As for Westwood Baptist Academy, they will take on the at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Harvest Temple Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 794th in Ohio, while the Eagles are ranked 162nd in Missouri).
