Basketball Recap: Roosevelt Comes Up Short

Roosevelt entered their contest against Coolidge on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Roosevelt Roughriders had to suffer through a 76-13 loss at the hands of the Coolidge Colts. The matchup marked the Roughriders' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Coolidge was led to victory by Josslyn Derricott and Marshea Fisher. Derricott dropped a double-double on 16 points and 17 rebounds, while Fisher dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 steals. Fisher is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kahmya Dixon, who posted 13 points.

Roosevelt's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-3. As for Coolidge, their win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-1.

Roosevelt will head out to face off against MacArthur at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Coolidge, they will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Oxon Hill at 11:30 a.m. Coolidge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.3 points per game this season.
