Taylor Devanney was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Mikka Christensen was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three matchup, Wakefield brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They came out on top against Alexandria City by a score of 13-8 on Thursday. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Regan Hughes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Hughes was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, Tatum Oliver was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Hannah Nilame, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double.
Wakefield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
George C. Marshall's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Wakefield, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
George C. Marshall's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. The Statesmen have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Wakefield, though, as they've been averaging only 0.4 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will George C. Marshall continue to outrun the ball?
