Football Game Preview: Gulfport Admirals vs. Pascagoula Panthers

Gulfport is a perfect 4-0 against Pascagoula since September of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Admirals are taking a road trip to face off against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. The last four games Gulfport has played (dating back to last season) have been within three points, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Gulfport is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Mississippi's top teams: Petal, who was ranked 19th at the time (Gulfport was ranked 24th). The Admirals were just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 25-24 to the Panthers. The Admirals haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Cooper Crosby, who picked up 78 receiving yards and two scores, and also rushed for 85 yards and one touchdown. Another passer making a difference was Parker Nettles, who threw for 192 yards and a pair of TDs.

Meanwhile, Pascagoula came up short against D'Iberville on Friday, falling 35-14.

Gulfport now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Pascagoula, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Everything went Gulfport's way against Pascagoula in their previous matchup back in September of 2022, as Gulfport made off with a 48-24 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Admirals since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
