Softball Game Preview: South Salem Saxons vs. Sheldon Irish

South Salem is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Sheldon a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The South Salem Saxons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Sheldon Irish at 5:00 p.m. South Salem has given up an average of 15.9 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

South Salem lost 16-3 to Sprague on Friday.

Karis Bowman was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Kennedy Carter also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Two must be Sheldon's lucky number: they beat Roseburg with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Irish beat the Indians by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 2-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

The team relied heavily on Kara Pierson, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Jazmin Gallegos was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI.

Sheldon's victory bumped their record up to 13-9. As for South Salem, their loss dropped their record down to 3-18.
