Softball Game Preview: Gunn Titans vs. Mountain View Spartans

The Gunn Titans will face off against the Mountain View Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither Gunn nor Mountain View posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Gunn came up short against Wilcox on Tuesday, falling 15-1. The Titans have struggled against the Chargers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Gunn saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tess Bogart, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

Los Altos hit Mountain View with a four-run seventh inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Spartans took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. Spartans fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Eagles since on Tuesday.

Caroline Kim spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Mountain View's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-10. As for Gunn, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14.
