Softball Recap: North Point Eagles vs. Great Mills Hornets
North Point had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 9-7 on Wednesday that streak is in the rearview. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Great Mills Hornets a 13-0 shutout. The Eagles' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.
Alyssa Blaney was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Blaney was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aminah Ayyad, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Ava Scott was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
