Softball Recap: North Point Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

North Point had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 9-7 on Wednesday that streak is in the rearview. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Great Mills Hornets a 13-0 shutout. The Eagles' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.

Alyssa Blaney was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Blaney was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aminah Ayyad, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Ava Scott was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

North Point always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

As for Great Mills, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. While getting shut out isn't ideal, they haven't been shut out since back in March.

On Great Mills' side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Claribel Davis, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one double.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. North Point will take on rival St. Charles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Great Mills is set to face off against their familiar foe La Plata at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
