Soccer Game Preview: Montgomery Academy vs. Central

The Montgomery Academy Eagles will face off against the Central Red Devils at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Montgomery Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alabama's top teams: Stanhope Elmore, who was ranked 21st at the time (Montgomery Academy was ranked 11th). The Eagles' defense stepped up to hand the Mustangs a 6-0 shutout last Friday. The victory continues a trend for Montgomery Academy in their matchups with Stanhope Elmore: they've now won five in a row.

Meanwhile, Central got the win against Russell County on Tuesday by a conclusive 10-0. Jack Ciancio had the honor of scoring the game-winner for Central.

Central has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 40 goals over those six matchups. As for Montgomery Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 15-5-2.

Montgomery Academy took their win against Central when the teams last played back in March of 2018 by a conclusive 4-1 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
