Volleyball Recap: University's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home + How To Watch

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when University and Oak Ridge meet (two straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Cougars fell just short of the Pioneers by a score of 3-2. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pioneers earlier this season, when they won 2-0.

University started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 24-26, 25-23, 25-13, 15-11.

Jaylisse Baez Villa paced University's offense, picking up nine kills. Baez Villa got some help from Mariana Perez and her 17 assists. Baez Villa and Perez didn't slow down when it came to serving: they led the team with seven apiece.

University's defeat ended a five-match streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-6. As for Oak Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.

Coming up, University will host Colonial at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Oak Ridge, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Wekiva at 7:00 p.m. on October 9.
