Basketball Recap: Everglades' Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Everglades entered their tilt with Sunlake on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Sunlake Seahawks by a score of 69-58.

Everglades got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Dekotah Pierre-Johnson out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 boards. Those 13 boards gave Pierre-Johnson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Payoutte, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 16 points.

Everglades smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.

Everglades is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.2 points per game. As for Sunlake, they moved to 10-3 with that defeat, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Everglades didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 69-67 victory against Martin County on the 30th. As for Sunlake, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 54-52 win against Smith County on the 30th.
