Rancho Cotate gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They walked away with a 33-26 victory over the Ukiah Wildcats. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won seven in a row.

Wyatt Gregori had an outrageously good game as he threw for 230 yards and a pair of TDs on only 16 passes, and also rushed for 84 yards and one touchdown. His longest rush was for an incredible 72 yards. John McClellan was another key player, rushing for 72 yards and one score on only nine carries.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Rancho Cotate's defense and their five sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as five different players picked up one apiece.

Despite the loss, Ukiah still got an impressive performance from Beau David, who rushed for 134 yards and one TD while picking up 7.1 yards per carry, and also threw for 202 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Coming up, Rancho Cotate is headed away from home for the first time to challenge Redwood at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Ukiah, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Carlmont at 7:00 p.m. on the 6th.
