Basketball Game Preview: Galena Grizzlies vs. McQueen Lancers

The Galena Grizzlies will take on the McQueen Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Galena and 15 for McQueen.

Last Friday, Galena came up short against Damonte Ranch and fell 47-40.

Despite the defeat, Galena had strong showings from Julia Imse, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Mia Turner, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. Galena is 2-1 when Imse posts ten or more rebounds, but 6-17 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Grace Sommers, who posted four points.

Meanwhile, McQueen played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Reno, falling 62-40. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Huskies are ranked fifth).

Galena's loss dropped their record down to 8-18. As for McQueen, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-22.

Galena didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against McQueen in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 51-45 win. Does Galena have another victory up their sleeve, or will McQueen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
