Soccer Game Preview: Homestead vs. Los Altos

The Homestead Mustangs will face off against the Los Altos Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Homestead will be strutting in after a win while Los Altos will be coming in after a defeat.

Los Altos will be up against a hot Homestead team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Homestead's defense stepped up to hand Fremont a 2-0 shutout on Friday. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 231st, while the Firebirds are ranked 746th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jose Rosas Diaz and Owen Gibbs scored both of Homestead's goals, bringing their combined season tally to six goals.

Meanwhile, Los Altos unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Palo Alto by a score of 3-2. One thing that didn't help the Eagles' chances was the red card they were dealt courtesy of Berto Palfreyman.

Homestead's victory bumped their record up to 5-3-5. As for Los Altos, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3-3.
