Baseball Game Preview: Tatum Eagles vs. Rusk Eagles

Tatum is 1-9 against Rusk since March of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. We've got a battle between Eagles coming up. The last four games Tatum has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Tatum's tournament run continued when they took on Diboll on Friday. Tatum fell just short of Diboll by a score of 7-6. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by just one run.

Meanwhile, Rusk sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Nacogdoches on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won six in a row.

Ross Davis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 14 Ks.

At the plate, Rusk saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bently Moore, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Another was Nash Acker, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

Rusk's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Tatum, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Tatum couldn't quite finish off Rusk in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can Tatum avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
