Vermont Commons is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Vermont's top teams: Middlebury, who was ranked third at the time (Vermont Commons was ranked 15th). Vermont Commons came up short against Middlebury on Monday, falling 3-0. Vermont Commons has struggled against Middlebury recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

While Vermont Commons was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Middlebury's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-8, 25-9, 25-16.

Meanwhile, Randolph entered their match against Colchester on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Ghosts took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lakers.

Randolph started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-23.

Vermont Commons' defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Randolph, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
