Softball Recap: George Washington Takes a Loss

George Washington extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-4 in the process. They came up short against the Tunstall Trojans, falling 17-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 22-6 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2021.

As for Tunstall, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.

For Tunstall's part, Colby Eastwood made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Eastwood has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Harper Lovelace was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sarah Payne, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, one triple, and one run.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Tunstall beat George Washington by a score of 7-0 later that day.
