Preview: Jacobs Golden Eagles vs. Central Rockets

Jacobs is 1-7 against Central since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Jacobs Golden Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Central Rockets at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Jacobs focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Saturday.

Jacobs pushed their score all the way to 67, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of St. Charles North by a score of 69-67. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Jacobs has suffered yet this season.

Despite the defeat, Jacobs had strong showings from Treval Howard, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds and three steals, and Ben Jurzak, who scored 30 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jurzak has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Bouchard, who scored three points along with seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Central scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They really took it to Marian Central Catholic for the full four quarters, racking up a 82-45 win at home. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 62-30.

This is the second loss in a row for Jacobs and nudges their season record down to 8-11. As for Central, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-6.

Jacobs took a serious blow against Central in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 64-37. Can Jacobs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
