White Knoll extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 9-12. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Fox Creek Predators. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Timberwolves have suffered since March 20th.
Easton Stewart
White Knoll got a good showing from Easton Stewart, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The Timberwolves are 2-1 when Stewart allows one or fewer earned runs, but 7-11 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Isaiah Posey made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Tra Johnson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
As for Fox Creek, they pushed their record up to 15-6-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games.
On Fox Creek's side, Will Frischmann was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Frischmann has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other pitching news, Cameron Porter looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Will Fountain and Dylan Altman did most of the damage at the plate: Fountain went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, while Altman went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave Fountain a new career-high.
Coming up, White Knoll will take on May River at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Timberwolves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sharks have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Fox Creek, they will square off against Silver Bluff at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
