Basketball Game Preview: Saint Francis Lancers vs. Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory Fightin' Irish

The Saint Francis Lancers will head out to challenge the Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory Fightin' Irish at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Saint Francis easily dispatched Peninsula two weeks ago, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Saint Francis fell just short of Bellarmine College Prep by a score of 55-52 on Tuesday. The Lancers have struggled against the Bells recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 75-26 loss at the hands of Archbishop Riordan. The match marked the Fightin' Irish's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Saint Francis, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Saint Francis suffered a grim 73-48 defeat to Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Thankfully for Saint Francis, Fedrick Pernell (who almost dropped a double-double on 32 points and nine rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
