Baseball Game Preview: Bolton Central Eagles vs. Johnsburg Central Jaguars

The Bolton Central Eagles will challenge the Johnsburg Central Jaguars at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Bolton Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.

Bolton Central is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by an 18-3 margin over Wells on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Wells CSD: they've now won six in a row.

Liam Foy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Bolton Central is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-5-1 otherwise. Foy was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Jace Hubert was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. He is becoming a predictor of Bolton Central's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 2-4-1 when he doesn't). Theodore Phelps was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Bolton Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Meanwhile, Johnsburg Central unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of Lake Placid by a score of 4-3.

Johnsburg Central's loss dropped their record down to 3-3-1. As for Bolton Central, they now have a winning record of 6-5-1.

Bolton Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Johnsburg Central when the teams last played two weeks ago, winning 3-0. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jaguars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
