Kenton Ridge extends road losing streak to five

Recap: Kenton Ridge Cougars vs. Bellefontaine Chieftains

The Kenton Ridge Cougars lost against the Bellefontaine Chieftains back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The New Year welcomed Kenton Ridge with a 67-37 whooping from Bellefontaine. Kenton Ridge has not had much luck with Bellefontaine recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Alaina Mcfadden and Summer Swords certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Mcfadden scored ten points, while Swords scored four points along with five rebounds and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Payton Runkle, who scored six points.

Kenton Ridge's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-11. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.8 points per game. As for Bellefontaine, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kenton Ridge will take on Urbana at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Urbana presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Kenton Ridge in Ohio (Urbana is ranked 151st, while Kenton Ridge is ranked 704th). As for Bellefontaine, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Greenon at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
