Hamshire-Fannett will take on Tarkington at 7:30 p.m. Tarkington took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Hamshire-Fannett, who comes in off a win.

Hamshire-Fannett took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They put the hurt on Jasper with a sharp 35-12 victory. Given the Longhorns' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 197th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 520th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hamshire-Fannett found their leader in sophomore Dwayne Long, who picked up 127 receiving yards and one score. Those 127 receiving yards set a new season-high mark for Long.

Meanwhile, Tarkington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against Silsbee, falling 63-6. The Longhorns were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 56-0.

Hamshire-Fannett's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Tarkington, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.

Everything came up roses for Hamshire-Fannett against Tarkington in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 65-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hamshire-Fannett since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
