Basketball Recap: Western Hills Takes a Loss

Western Hills was the 73-71 winner over Hughes when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Western Hills Mustangs took a 73-69 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hughes BIG RED. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 260th, while the BIG RED are ranked 97th).

Hughes found their leader in freshman LeShawn Hill, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 21 points along with seven boards and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hill has scored all season. Elijah Englemen was another key player, putting up 12 points and eight rebounds.

Western Hills' loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Hughes, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3.

Western Hills has already played their next matchup (against Withrow), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Hughes has already played their next game, a 75-69 defeat against Aiken on the 14th.
