Basketball Recap: Hammond Academy of Science & Tech Takes a Loss

Hammond Academy of Science & Tech lost against Southland College Prep back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Hammond Academy of Science & Tech Hawks had to suffer through a 69-28 loss at the hands of Southland College Prep. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hammond Academy of Science & Tech's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaden Starkey, who went 7-for-13 to rack up 17 points and six boards, and Jeffery Patton, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten rebounds. Starkey is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last seven games he's played. Benjamin Robinson also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Southland College Prep was led to victory by David Shaw and Shaunn Cooper Jr.. Shaw posted 14 points, while Cooper Jr. scored 12 points. Jaylin Remmer was another key player, putting up eight points.

Hammond Academy of Science & Tech's defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Southland College Prep, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-7.

Coming up, Hammond Academy of Science & Tech will challenge Chicago Washington at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Southland College Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
