Football Recap: Porter Ridge Piles Up the Points Against Piedmont

After only 13 points in their last game, Porter Ridge made sure to put some points up on the board against Piedmont on Friday. The Pirates blew past the Panthers, posting a 41-6 victory. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Rai'Shawn Elmore continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 145 yards and four scores on only 12 carries. Cam Washington got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Elmore, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Porter Ridge's defense stepped up as well, laying out Jack Blakeslee three times. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Charles Watson and Dawson James, who each picked up 0.5 sacks apiece. Washington got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Despite the loss, Piedmont still got an impressive performance from Kaleb Poole, who rushed for 43 yards and one TD.

Porter Ridge's record now sits at 5-2. As for Piedmont, they dropped their record down to 2-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Porter Ridge will venture away from home to take on Marvin Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Piedmont, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sun Valley at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
