Baseball Recap: South Williamsport Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for South Williamsport, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Shikellamy Braves by a score of 8-5 on Wednesday. The Mountaineers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Braves, too.

South Williamsport got a great performance from Chance Quimby as he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Those six strikeouts gave Quimby a new career-high.

At the plate, Levi Butler was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Tadd Lusk was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

South Williamsport was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

South Williamsport's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Shikellamy, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Williamsport will take on Muncy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Shikellamy, they will face off against Jersey Shore at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
