Basketball Recap: Modesto Takes a Loss

Modesto was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. The match between them and the Tokay Tigers didn't end well, with the Modesto Panthers falling 65-49. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1068th, while the Tigers are ranked 349th).

Despite the loss, Modesto still got an impressive performance from Ian Poulsen, who posted six points.

Tokay got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Marcus Shoneff out in front who put up 15 points and five rebounds. Carlo Agbayani was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Modesto's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Tokay, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Modesto wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 52-39 loss against Johansen on the 13th. As for Tokay, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 66-53 defeat against Christian Brothers on the 12th.
