Baseball Game Preview: Hayfork Timberjacks vs. Chester Volcanoes

The Hayfork Timberjacks will challenge the Chester Volcanoes at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Hayfork fell victim to Loyalton and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They fell just short of the Grizzlies by a score of 1-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Timberjacks were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Chester came up short against Redding Christian on Friday, falling 15-5. The Volcanoes have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Chester saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grady Klimek, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another was Josiah Van Gieson, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Hayfork's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Chester, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.

Hayfork came out on top in a nail-biter against Chester in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, sneaking past 8-7. Will the Timberjacks repeat their success, or do the Volcanoes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
