Softball Recap: Wenatchee Sets Scoring Season-High Against Eisenhower

Wenatchee extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 7-8 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 14-13 heartbreaker at the hands of the Eisenhower Cadets. On the bright side, the 13- run effort marked the Panthers' highest-scoring match to date.

Rhayn Smith stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs. Haylee Merz also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

As for Eisenhower, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-6. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 22.7 runs over those games.

On Eisenhower's side, the team relied heavily on Nicole Salmanca, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-5. With that strong performance, Salmanca is now averaging an impressive 3.2 RBI per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Zabella Hickenbottom, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Wenatchee beat Eisenhower by a score of 19-6 later that day.
