The Santa Fe Indians will head out on the road to square off against the La Porte Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Santa Fe's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so La Porte's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Santa Fe took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 4-1 win over Ball.
Santa Fe got a great performance from Aubrey Withers as she struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Withers has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Katelynn Torres was excellent, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Mallory Richardson was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask La Porte). They put the hurt on Iowa Colony with a sharp 23-4 victory on Friday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Bulldogs with their most commanding win of the season.
The team relied heavily on Kallie Walker, who went 3-for-5 with nine RBI, two stolen bases, and two runs. She also put up two doubles, which were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Sophie Sandel, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI.
La Porte always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .722. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Santa Fe is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for La Porte, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-4-1.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Santa Fe hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .334. However, it's not like La Porte struggles in that department as they've averaged .379. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Santa Fe couldn't quite get it done against La Porte in their previous meeting back in March as they fell 5-0. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
