Softball Recap: Berthoud Spartans vs. Thompson Valley Eagles
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Berthoud). They blew past the Thompson Valley Eagles 23-2 on Tuesday. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by eight runs or more this season.
Annabelle Hughes was a standout: she scored two runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Griffin, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Berthoud kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now hit at least eight hits in 11 consecutive contests.
Berthoud pushed their record up to 10-1 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Thompson Valley, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-3 record.
