Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Makiryn Williams and Morgan Self Lead Essex to Victory

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Essex on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 39-22 win over the Lancaster Red Devils. The Trojans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Red Devils, too.

Essex was led to victory by Morgan Self and Makiryn Williams. Self dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 boards, while Williams posted six points in addition to ten rebounds and five steals. Self is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 21 games she's played dating back to last season. Aryeon Robinson was another key player, putting up ten points along with five boards and four steals.

Essex's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Lancaster, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-4.

When Essex and Lancaster next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Essex will take on Westmoreland and their seven-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Lancaster will try to stop Colonial Beach's three-game winning streak when the meet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
