Football Game Preview: Hillcrest Hornets vs. Logan-Rogersville Wildcats

The Hillcrest Hornets will head out to take on the Logan-Rogersville Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hillcrest is looking for their season's first victory.

Hillcrest is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They came up short against Carl Junction on Friday, falling 49-26. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked 245th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 72nd).

Meanwhile, Logan-Rogersville ended up a good deal behind West Plains on Friday and lost 55-41. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Zizzers recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Hillcrest will need to focus on slowing down Gage Hale, one of several Logan-Rogersville players who made an impact when they last played. He picked up 191 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Hale's receiving production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 127 receiving yards. Sam Frieze was another key player, having thrown for 277 yards and two touchdowns.

Hillcrest's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Logan-Rogersville, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Hillcrest came up short against Logan-Rogersville when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 29-23. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
