Football Preview: Southmont Mounties vs. Cascade Cadets
The Southmont Mounties will venture away from home to take on the Cascade Cadets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are still undefeated after seven games, but that won't be the case come Friday.
Southmont took a 30-point loss the last time they faced off against Western Boone, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Mounties had just enough and edged out the Stars 26-23.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cascade). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Greencastle 98-13. With the Cadets ahead 77-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Cascade's win came from a few key players Southmont will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Lucas Farmer, who rushed for 64 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries, and also caught one TD. Dayton Mink was another key player, rushing for 64 yards and three scores on only seven carries.
Cascade was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 315 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 193 rushing yards in four consecutive games.
