While Northern Bedford County's victory against North Star wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers won a contest that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the Cougars 27-26. The Panthers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Northern Bedford County found their leader in sophomore Trace Baker, who rushed for 88 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries, and also threw for 60 yards and a pair of TDs. Carter Love got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Northern Bedford County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Brett Cottle and Zach Bowers.

When it comes to explaining why North Star lost on Friday, don't look at Kasey Yoder. Despite the final result, he rushed for 127 yards and three scores, and also threw for 207 yards and one TD. Yoder also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making six total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception.

Northern Bedford County's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for North Star, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-5.
