Basketball Recap: Nelsonville-York skates past River Valley with ease

Basketball Recap: Nelsonville-York Buckeyes vs. River Valley Raiders

The Nelsonville-York Buckeyes scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat River Valley 76-42 at home. The win was some much needed relief for Nelsonville-York as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Nelsonville-York was led to victory by Briant Call and Keagan Swope. Call scored 22 points along with two blocks, while Swope dropped a triple-double on 14 points, ten assists, and ten steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Call has scored all season. Andrew Conner was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.

River Valley's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Braden Bennett, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, and Landon Burns who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Tyler Wooten, who scored three points.

Nelsonville-York's win bumped their record up to 11-7. As for River Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Nelsonville-York will challenge the Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Vinton County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 16 matchups -- so hopefully the Buckeyes like a good challenge. As for River Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Tornadoes at 7:30 p.m.
