Softball Recap: Resurrection Takes Down Grayslake Central in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Resurrection rose to the challenge on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Grayslake Central Rams 8-6. The win was nothing new for the Bandits as they're now sitting on three straight.

Elizabeth Dorgan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ella Anderson was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Jenna Skweres, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Resurrection hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Resurrection's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-12. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Grayslake Central, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-15.

Looking ahead, Resurrection will square off against Antioch at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Sequoits will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Bandits surely won't give up without a fight. Grayslake Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
