Softball Recap: Lake Park Lancers vs. Male Bulldogs
Lake Park proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by eight) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Male Bulldogs 4-3.
Gaetana Calo was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time she hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Alexandra Kiefer was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Gabriella Motisi, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Lake Park's record is now 2-0. As for Male, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 8-1.
Looking ahead, Lake Park will take on Boyd County at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Boyd County will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Lake Park surely won't give up without a fight. As for Male, they will challenge Parkersburg South at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Parkersburg South's pitching crew has only allowed 0.3 runs per game this season, so Male's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
