Softball Recap: Bend Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Bend ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 14-13 win over the South Medford Panthers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lava Bears have posted since April 7, 2025.

Cass Sandgren was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelyn Lima, who went 3-for-5 with four runs and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Bend kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 14 hits in three consecutive games.

Bend pushed their record up to 10-15 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for South Medford, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-19.

Coming up, Bend will look to defend their home field on Friday against Ridgeview at 4:30 p.m. South Medford does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
