Preview: Jordan-Matthews Jets vs. Bartlett Yancey Buccaneers
Jordan-Matthews is 0-10 against Bartlett Yancey since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Jordan-Matthews Jets will look to defend their home court against the Bartlett Yancey Buccaneers at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Jordan-Matthews' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight defeat. They suffered a rough 63-40 defeat at the hands of Chatham Central. Jordan-Matthews found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post ten fewer assists than your opponent.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Reagan Smith, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. It was the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Jada Scott was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and six blocks.
Meanwhile, Bartlett Yancey took a serious blow against Southeast Alamance on Tuesday, falling 61-31. While losing is never fun, Bartlett Yancey can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 322nd, while Southeast Alamance is ranked 97th).
Bartlett Yancey's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Alexis Farrish, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three blocks, and Jazmyne Henderson who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Henderson hasn't dropped below four steals for three straight games.
Jordan-Matthews has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Bartlett Yancey, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Jordan-Matthews came up short against Bartlett Yancey in their previous matchup last Wednesday, falling 63-56. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Farrish, who dropped a triple-double on 23 points, 11 rebounds, and ten steals. Now that Jordan-Matthews knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
