Baseball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Passaic County Tech

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Passaic County Tech walked away with it. Everything went their way against the Union City Soaring Eagles on Friday as they made off with an 11-1 win. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 23 games by six runs or more this season.

Anthony Iasiello got the start for Passaic County Tech and what a start it was: he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Iasiello has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Passaic County Tech let Frank Juliano and Melvin Genao run wild. Juliano went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double, while Genao went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Genao has posted since May 6th. Mickey Gilligan was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

The victory (which was Passaic County Tech's sixth in a row) raised their record to 33-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Union City, their loss dropped their record down to 14-15-1.

Coming up, Passaic County Tech will face off against West Orange on Wednesday. The Mountaineers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Union City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
