Softball Game Preview: Providence Grove Patriots vs. Morehead Panthers

The Providence Grove Patriots are taking a road trip to face off against the Morehead Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Providence Grove will be strutting in after a win while Morehead will be coming in after a loss.

Providence Grove made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Eastern Randolph, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Patriots put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 10-0 victory on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won four contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, while it was Morehead who put the first points on the board on Thursday, it was Walkertown who put up more. The Panthers lost 12-1 to the Wolfpack. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Morehead saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Hopper, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Providence Grove now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Morehead, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.

Providence Grove was able to grind out a solid win over Morehead when the teams last played back in March, winning 7-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
