Football Game Preview: Mitchell Kernels vs. Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles

Mitchell hasn't had much luck against Aberdeen Central recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Kernels will venture away from home to square off against the Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Mitchell will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.

On Friday, Mitchell was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 26-20 to Tea.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Aberdeen Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 21-13 victory over Sturgis Brown on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Golden Eagles in their matchups with the Scoopers: they've now won three in a row.

A big part of Aberdeen Central's victory came down to the chemistry between Brayden Bowman and his top target Porter Lozenski. Bowman rushed for 45 yards and one TD while Lozenski rushed for 101 yards and one touchdown. Lozenski was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 57 yards.

Aberdeen Central's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Mitchell, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-4.

Mitchell took a serious blow against Aberdeen Central in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 48-6. Can the Kernels avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
