Volleyball Recap: Madison Takes a Loss

Madison was the 3-2 winner over Mountain Heritage when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Patriots fell 3-1 to the Cougars on Tuesday.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-14, 24-26, 25-8.

Layla Rhinehart paced Madison's offense, picking up 11 kills. Rhinehart got some help from Meredith Gault and her 19 assists. Rhinehart was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Mountain Heritage can attribute much of their success to Sydney Styles, who had ten digs and five aces. Those five aces gave Styles a new career-high. Kyla Phillips also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Madison's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Mountain Heritage, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-4.

Madison didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Hendersonville on the 4th. As for Mountain Heritage, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Polk County on the 4th.
