Basketball Recap: Audrey Shindelar's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Stewartville over Benilde-St. Margaret's

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Stewartville can now relate to. They came up short against the Benilde-St. Margaret's Red Knights on Wednesday, falling 84-58. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Red Knights are ranked fourth).

Stewartville lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Audrey Shindelar, who went 7-for-16 en route to 24 points and three steals. Her morning made it 13 games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Ruffridge, who posted 12 points and seven boards.

The defeat snapped Stewartville's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 21-9 record. As for Benilde-St. Margaret's, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 24-6.

Stewartville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 70-60 loss against DeLaSalle on the 13th. As for Benilde-St. Margaret's, they have also already played their next game, a 60-52 victory against Alexandria on the 13th.
