Herndon took a 11-run loss the last time they faced off against George C. Marshall, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Hornets had just enough and edged out the Statesmen 7-6. With that win, the Hornets brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Cadence Godshalk made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Katie McGee was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Avery Schopp also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

With the victory, Herndon broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-5. As for George C. Marshall, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Herndon has already played their next contest, a 13-0 defeat against Langley on the 25th. As for George C. Marshall, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 8-4 win against Wakefield on the 25th.
