Football Game Preview: Palacios Sharks vs. Goliad Tigers + How To Watch

The Palacios Sharks will venture away from home to face off against the Goliad Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Palacios is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 55 points on September 12th, they were much more limited against West Oso on Friday. They took an 18-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bears.

Palacios' loss came about despite a quality game from Alex Weaver, who rushed for 142 yards and one score. With that strong performance, Weaver is now averaging an impressive 108.8 rushing yards per game.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Goliad). They blew past Mathis 41-21 on Friday. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 386th, while the Pirates are ranked 893rd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Goliad's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 27.3 points over those games. As for Palacios, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Palacios took a serious blow against Goliad in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 56-8. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Sharks were down 42-0.
