Basketball Recap: Rooted School Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Rooted School had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They were beaten by the Riverside Argonauts 95-23 on Friday. The Royals were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 64-11.

Several Royals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Raven Moncrief, who posted seven points.

Riverside was led to victory by Jase Bennett and Ty Hopper. Bennett went 9-for-12 to rack up 22 points along with seven assists and six boards, while Hopper almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. Those seven assists gave Bennett a new career-high. Kameron Reese was another key player, shooting 67% from the field en route to 15 points.

The win (which was Riverside's third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Coming up, Rooted School is taking a road trip to square off against Central Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Riverside, they will host Indiana Math & Science Academy North at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
