It's playoff time, and Watauga had no trouble coming through when it counted. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 31-28 win over the Sun Valley Spartans on Friday. The victory was just business as usual for the Pioneers, who after 13 games remain undefeated this season.

Watauga had a senior duo take command as Cade Keller threw for 242 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.7% of his passes and Nyle Peays picked up 97 receiving yards and one TD.

Despite the loss, Sun Valley still got an impressive performance from Zach Cullen, who rushed for 151 yards and a pair of scores. Cullen is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 113 every time he's taken the field this season.

Watauga's win bumped their record up to 13-0. As for Sun Valley, the defeat snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 9-4 record.

Looking ahead, Watauga will square off against Northern Guilford at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Pioneers will need to watch out since the Nighthawks have now posted at least 31 points in their last six games. Sun Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
