Basketball Recap: Hilton Head Island Takes a Loss

Hilton Head Island suffered their closest loss since December 6, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of the St. Andrew's Lions by a score of 61-58.

Despite the loss, Hilton Head Island still got an impressive performance from Kyrice Bowman, who went 9 for 16 on his way to 20 points. Reece Stewart was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Leading St. Andrew's to victory were Ja'Cari Glover and Zayden Edwards. Glover dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards, while Edwards posted 18 points and seven assists. Glover is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Miles Cummings, who had nine points.

Hilton Head Island's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-9. As for St. Andrew's, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-3.

Hilton Head Island will face off against May River at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hilton Head Island is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.2 points per game this season. As for St. Andrew's, they will challenge Frederica Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Andrew's knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Frederica Academy likes a good challenge.
